Flying to
Saba

The quickest way to reach Saba is by plane from 
St. Maarten (SXM).


Winair flies several times a day, and the flight takes only 12 to 15 minutes, just enough time to enjoy the view before you land at Juancho E. Yrausquin Airport (SAB), home to the world’s shortest commercial runway.


It’s a quick, thrilling flight with stunning island views. Choose a window seat (on the right side when flying from Sint Maarten) for the best photos of Saba’s cliffs and coastline.

Once you arrive, it’s just a short taxi ride from the airport to The Scenery Hotel Saba, located in the charming village of Windwardside, the perfect base for exploring the island. Tip: Plan to travel light. The planes are small, and baggage space is limited.

Taking the
Ferry to Saba

If you’d rather travel by sea, you can catch a ferry from 
Sint Maarten to Saba.

  • Ferries usually depart from Simpson Bay and arrive at Fort Bay on Saba.
  • The trip takes about 90 minutes to 2 hours.
  • Popular options include:

  • Makana Ferry
  • Big B Ferry

It’s a beautiful ride. Keep your camera ready as you approach the island and see Mount Scenery rise from the ocean.

From Fort Bay, taxis are readily available to take you up the scenic mountain road to The Scenery Hotel Saba, where a comfortable room and warm welcome await.

Tip: If the sea is a little rough, take motion tablets before you go and sit near the back of the boat.

Coming from Other Islands

  • From Curaçao or Aruba: Fly to Sint Maarten first, then take a Winair flight to Saba.
  • From Anguilla, St. Eustatius, or St. Barths: Travel via Sint Maarten by ferry or short regional flight.
